representation of sexuality

Heterosexual

This is when a person is sexually attracted to people of the opposite sex. This means as a male you would be attracted to a female and as a female you would be attracted to a male. An example of this would be Cook from the T.V series, Skins.

Homosexual

This is when a person is sexually attracted to people of their own sex. This could be a male attracted to another male which is called 'gay' and a female attracted to another female which is called a 'lesbian'. An example of this would be Maxxie who is also from the T.V series, Skins.

Bi Sexual

Bisexuality is romantic attraction, sexual attraction or sexual behavior toward both males and females, and may also encompass romantic or sexual attraction to people of any gender identity or to a person irrespective of that person's biological sex or gender, which is sometimes termed pan sexuality. An example of this would be John Barrowman out of the T.V series Torchwood.

Asexual

This is a person who is without sexual feelings or associations towards a male or female. An example of this would be Dexter out of the T.V series, Dexter. However, he does find a girlfriend but finds it hard to be sexual with his partner.

Avengers Assemble

Marvel studios are the creator's of the film 'Avengers Assemble' and they are a big company. Big companies do produce the best movies or the biggest movies most of the time. This is because of the rules for the movie to become a blockbuster. Number 1, they need to have a newsworthy budget which, number 2 is that the film must have spectacular visuals, number 3 is that the film must not be a comedy, and that last one number 4 is that the film must have an 'A-list' star. This film includes all of these factors so it is guaranteed success.
Marvel wanted this film to be a great success so they drafted in all of the characters from their singular films and made them to force to be reckoned with in the Avengers Assemble. the characters where; Thor, The Hulk, Iron Man, and Captain America. Disney distributed this film so that is a form of advertisement.
The introduction of all of the new ways of watching movies legally and illegally has meant that the amount of views the film receives has gone up as there are more ways to watch it. This however has meant that the price people watch it for has gone down due to renting it for a day on the Sky Store or illegally watching a movie or even apps such as Netflix.
Films are now viewed in different ways than they used to be viewed as people can view them on their phones, Xbox's, PS3's etc. These products were not designed for this but have been found out that you can do that.
Marvel and Avengers came together to make the film Avengers. This is because of the amount of money the film will make and because they came together it means that more advertisement can be done and that equals more money spent on the film by customers.
Film companies will advertise movies in different countries in different ways to attract viewers from all over the world. For example, a film will make a scene in a particular country so that it then can attract viewers to that movie so it generates more viewers.
I see the developments as both good and bad. It is good that there are many ways to see the films now so people wont miss a film if they cant get to the cinemas as they could wait and see it on Netflix etc. However, it is bad for the companies making the films as they lose money or illegally downloaded content of their movies. So I see this as a good thing for customers but a bad thing for the producers.

Luther
During the scene we were shown in Luther, we were shown various representations of gender. The representations consisted of mise en scene, camera shots and angles, editing and sound.
We are first shown a man who is straight away being questioned and it seems that he lacks power. Luther is questioned by the woman about his marriage which he is very cagey about and seems to show emotion when this is brought up. Luther however shows he is a strong willed character as he resists a sexual audience when the woman appears to be coming on to him and then grabs his face. Luther comes across as a smartly dressed character who wears a nice suit to work and is an overall nice person which was my first perception of him.
The camera shots that were used the most and throughout was the over the shoulder shot which popped up a lot as the whole scene was a conversation. This is where the camera is looking at someone else but over the other persons shoulder. Another shot that is in this clip is the pan shot when it gets them both in the clip. The cameras always cut to the person speaking as if it were a spotlight on them. The music in the background of this video clip feels like there is tension.
At the end on the clip, Luther begins to win back the power of the conversation I feel and he is now the one in control, unlike before where the woman seemed to have all of the power over Luther.
While the woman is speaking about the black hall, the music that is being played is quite weary and dark, this then suggests that the overall darkness of this character. This then goes against the general stereotype of women in TV dramas because women are usually below the men and she seems to mostly have power over Luther and be in control of the situation.
The characters are shown with the same structure and power. This is also shown by the camera angles which are shown. These are also indicated by the numerous angles shown, which are two shots, zooms and high close ups which then causes tension between the characters.
